""I do not make money. I keep it.""
╭
Sitka is a dark ridgeback tasked with guarding all money that comes into the tribe. She is not willing to give it up however, and many a guarded snap has convinced other dragons that they could gather the money elsewhere. She hates banks, competition, and stinging insects, and when living in the swamp 2 out of 3 options aren't bad. Sitka lives in a cold dungeon constantly at risk of filling up with sludge. When she is outside she is often renovating her dungeon. Since she bought the place 5 years ago she has never been able to fit in the front door. Sitk likes wearing her jewels, however no-one knows if that is her own money. To ask her would be a death sentence.

Something drew her out of her sleep. A gnat, buzzing around her head. How it got into her dungeon, she could not fathom…? She stretched, sliding her tail over the golden coins that made her bed. Several fell, tinkling and chiming as they struck against their brethren. One fell and rolled, coming to rest on the foot of another dragon. Ah. So that’s how the gnat got in. The skydancer bent and picked up the coin, making it dance in her fingertips before she flicked it towards Sitka. She didn’t even bother trying to catch it. Gathering herself up on her haunches, she towered over the skydancer. “What do you need, Teak?” The skydancer grinned, but it was only a mere baring of her teeth. “No take today, Sitka. I come here only to deposit.” She pulled a small hessian bag from her pouch. Opening it, she continued. “Mal has returned with another settlement from south of the River. He’s sold most of it but wanted to pass this to you.” Sitka breathed out a plume of smoke, relishing in Teak’s attempts to politely cough. “Then pass it to me. My eyesight isn’t good in the dark.” An instant later the bag was emptied into her palm. A fat ruby, shimmering on all angles, glinted back. A large crack had spoiled one side. Sitka felt the jagged edge against her skin. “A rather large piece of pretty glass. I shall store it, but Mal remembers that all deposits require a steady interest rate?” “Sitka you know –” Teak rubbed her head. Sitka’s smoke was thick with a powerful herb, well known for fogging the conscious mind. Teak surely knew this, yet she swayed whenever Sitka exhaled. She started again. “Mal says that is not how banks operate. He stores money with the bank, the bank gains interest with his money, and both parties profit.” Sitka chuckled, closing her large claws over the ruby, its worth imprisoned in her grasp. “Then tell the old man he is wrong. Firstly, I do not run a bank, I run a hoard. I guard whatever falls into my dungeon, be it scraps or silks. If he wants to keep his precious coin safe from other thieves, then I am the safest operator around. But do not think he will profit from me.” If Teak was listening, she was showing little sign. The fog had truly taken over, making every word Sitka uttered law. “I do not make money. I keep it.”
