Salis

Salis Dawnes, adopted son of the nomadic couple Shono and Talya. Salis' egg was seen floating down a river in Sunbeam Ruins, the Morning Rose tribe noticing it and taking it back with them. As a nest of theirs recently hatched, the egg was put in the care of the Pearlcatcher Shono and the Skydancer Talya, where in due time a Fae emerged from the egg. Given his colors of the sea and him being found during the Festival of Water, the couple assumed that this was no ordinary Fae. Coincidence or not, he was a very beautiful dragon and they were happy to call him their own.

Salis grew up to be one of the most powerful mages in the clan and quite the hydromancer to boot, even in spite of the disappearance of the Tidemaster. He is calm, elegant, and serene, but his gift has given him quite an ego and a disregard for others, being hard to socialize with given how great a pedestal he's put himself upon. In spite of this, he is incredibly dedicated to his clan's patron and wishes more than anything to hear him speak. Some surmise that his gift is in part of how devoted an oracle he is, others say he may be linked to the leader of the Water dragons in some way, or maybe it's just by chance that he's grown to be so powerful. With his lack of concern for his clanmates and even his foster family, in addition to how, in spite of being a full member of the tribe, he does not associate himself with the Light flight, his increase in power grows more and more ominous, and all his parents and siblings can do is hope and pray that he doesn't go down the path they fear he will.

Vartej is a prodigy among Maren, one of the first to decipher Water magic without the tutelage of dragons, and has only gotten stronger with age, and sees this young dragon as both a worthy opponent and maybe someone in need of guidance. He sees much of himself within Salis, even if Salis may not heed his advice. They still respect each other as potent Water mages, however, and the healthy competition helps them both learn how to master the art even further.
