Ophelia

"Ophelia, are you ready?" The pastel coloured tundra nodded her head, taking a deep breath. Schism brushed his wings against her reassuringly, while Stram merely hummed in acknowledgment before casting the spell that would let them out of the nightmare. The dream lich never had been much of a talker, not in all the time she'd known him. In truth, she was nervous. The tundra had been taken in by the Fal'Vorah after they found her wandering their nightmare, lost and chased by the monsters therein. They'd protected her, trained her, and now...now they thought they'd found where she came from. She couldn't remember her birth clan, just the smells of those belonging to it, but as the old saying goes "Where there's a will, there's a way."

As it turned out, "will" in this case meant having another dragon go rooting around in her head to find the smells she remembered and passing them on to Schism, who promptly went roaming all over the Tangled Wood looking for them. And now...now he thought he'd found them, and Ophelia's stomach was doing its best attempt at a barrel roll. The darker tundra took wing, the younger leaping to follow. It seemed like so long ago that she would have struggled to keep up, when her wings were so much weaker and she feared the monsters in the night. The Behemoth loomed on the horizon, an enduring landmark for their northern journey. It wasn't until they'd reached the cliffs above the ocean that Schism banked, landing with a dull thump near a large tree. A few dragons could be seen in the nooks of the great plant, and still more seemed to be coming and going from a cave in the cliff side below. She shifted awkwardly, glancing at the other tundra who nudged her forward with a reassuring smile. "Go on...it will be fine, I promise."

One step, and then another; she made her way nervously towards the clan. What if this wasn't it? What if it was, and she was no longer welcome? A shadow black Nocturne with starry wings flew up from the cave mouth, probably alerted by one of the other dragons that there were visitors. The wind shifted then, the smell of brine and fish and distant flowers sweeping across the waters and through Ophelia's fur. More importantly by far though, it carried the dragon's sent to her. Her eyes grew wide and then filled with tears as she bounded over, her hesitance forgotten in the face of joy. As she landed in front of the bemused dragon, all she could think to do was blurt out, "You smell...like home."
