Yahaloma
-quiet and reclusive, solemn, seems very sad but nobody really knows why; kind and polite despite his loner reputation, n e r v o u s, the only thing that doesn’t make him anxious is plants, extremely patient
-very neat and put-together
-grew up in Lightning, left his clan when he got old enough with the intention of studying botany but turns out that isn’t exactly the most esteemed field of study in Lightning seeing as nothing... fricking... grows there. the soil is bad, there’s no nutrients, it’s just a pain in the butt to try to import and grow anything, and he didn’t have a greenhouse, rip. for his early life, learned mostly from books; almost entirely self-taught. ended up wandering from clan to clan in Lightning taking up odd jobs and studying in his spare time, but got tired of this after a year; finally decided ‘screw it i’m going to light, they’re all about studying’
-terrible at flying due to his small wingspan; had to walk most of the way, can only glide if he jumps off a high place or something
-was happy for a while there, befriended a small group of dragons who were interested in similar topics; they even had a greenhouse built and he spent much of his time there attempting to create new varieties of roses with his research partner. found his familiar in the rocks by the shore here and she’s followed him ever since, she’s really slow but he‘s always got his face in some moss anyway so he doesn’t really mind. however, some tragic event, which dragons speculate may have been a tragic accident or a falling-out with his partner/best friend or possibly something that affected the entire clan, led him to pack up what books, seeds, and rations he could carry and leave without looking back. He refuses to discuss the incident, and the other dragons know better than to press the matter.
-He briefly wandered through the tangled wood, bringing with him spores, seeds, and samples of a wide variety of the elusive indigenous flora. he documented just about everything he saw in a small notebook; the first among many. however, the darkness was a bit too much for him, and he finally decided to overcome his fear of traveling over open ocean and crossed the bay between the Tangled Wood and the Viridian Labyrinth on a ship, since he couldn’t fly that far.
-he found Fernwood purely by chance; after spending the night with several clans and then moving on, he stumbled upon a small clan of dragons whose founders were, to his surprise, a group of scientists. He wasn’t sure what they were doing in the viridian labyrinth rather than in one of the territories more dedicated to scientific pursuit, but it was almost too good to be true, so when they offered him a place in the clan- which, despite its small size at the time, sported an impressive library and greenhouse- he couldn’t refuse.
-since joining the clan, he’s taken an interest in the relationship between the flora of Light and Shadow territories, and how ambient elemental magic affects the development of some plants into different variations.
-big nerd
-dryads are kinda wary of him because they’re scared he’s gonna try n study their trees... he has made the mistake a few times but he’s learned his lesson. he’s not trying to hurt anyone I promise
-he in turn is wary around spirits, and holds a firm belief in the existence of the Fey
-aro-ace
-a bit too curious about the clan’s origins for Carina’s comfort but he hasn’t actually done anything and it’s not like he’s a threat so ??
-lacks that magical-energy-sense common to most Skydancers
-considers himself horribly unlucky
-usually found out and about in the evening, after sunset when the sky starts to turn darker blue and the fireflies come out
