Biography

Kessel is a dedicated potter. She loves gathering her own clay and shaping it into a wonderful new piece, then firing and meticulously painting it. Her creations are both lovely and practical! Deshi uses a lot of her jars and jugs to store different foodstuffs in the pantry, so she regularly commissions Kessel for new works. When she can, Kessel really enjoys experimenting with colors, patterns, and textures, and has been working on a series of vases focusing on geometry. The job gets dirty though, so after she's finished she likes to take a swim in a nearby pond. After being near the kiln for long periods of time, its a great way to cool off!
