Essa has existed as a trickster entity for the better part of a millenia, constantly traveling and finding new clans to prank. She was in the middle of a fun new adventure when she stumbled upon the chamber that held the tortured Proserpina. Aghast, Essa quickly worked to free her and has since then been devoted to caring and helping Proserpina heal.

Essa is hopelessly devoted to Proserpina, but feels her feelings are inappropriate towards someone who is so dependent on her. She doesn't want Proserpina to feel pressured into reciprocating Essa's feelings, so she tries her best to keep them hidden. Essa's lionsnake is also a prankster and is working tirelessly with Proserpina's Ball-Jointed Bogsneak to get the two hopeless lesbians to reveal their love for the other.
