Kjeburax

Kjeburax was one of two small Fae hatchlings and undoubtedly the surprise of the nest. When Kjeburax opened his eyes, many eyes, his parents could only look on in shock and spare each other surprised gazes. It was clear the little Fae was just as confused as them, fumbling around in an off-balanced manner while his sister easily played with the other hatchlings.

Vehjin curled his massive form around his mate and firstborn hatchlings. Kjeburax, their firstborn son, was unique. He feared that others might bully or even outcast him, despite the kindness of the Guild. However, that didn't seem to be the case as Kjeburax was introduced to the Guild and the others accepted his special eyes with ease. Jade was pleased to see her children happy; Eria had devoted herself to serving the Gladekeeper while Kjeburax wanted to stay with the Guild to find his purpose in life.

Rather than being labeled an outcast by the Guild, Kjeburax began to doubt himself, secluding himself as the reactions of young hatchlings or prejudiced older dragons caused him to second guess his looks. He felt like an alien amongst the other Guild members, despite the few other dragons with strange eyetypes, like the favored Stormy and the well-loved Sugar. Kjeburax spent a long time thinking and wondering about his appearance, self-consciousness building up as he wondered how to fit in.

And then, his solution was there. As Gaolers returned and Galore gifted the clan with a pair of scrolls, Kjeburax saw his opportunity and he took it.

Instead of being an awkward little Fae with too many eyes, he used the scroll on himself and transformed into the ideal Gaoler warden, one with many watchful eyes, perfect for the job. It was a shock to many, including his parents, as he abruptly snatched the scroll to use it whilst the leaders were still debating on how to go about using the scrolls. Still, there was nothing they could do any longer, and Kjeburax, though completely out of tune with his new form, was happy with the outcome.

His parents were supportive of him, always reminding him that he was loved and that they were there for him. He was grateful; his new form had changed some opinions on him, at least. Younger hatchlings didn't quite see him as creepy as they had before, enamored with his elegant, fluffy mane and large antlers to climb upon and ride as they still learned to fly. Kjeburax was happy, truly happy.

Months later, when his parents nested again, his lovely little sister popped out with stunning emerald eyes, complete with a unique and rare horizontal pupil. As she blinked her eyes open, resting between her doting parents, Kjeburax promised to protect her, and to make sure that she knew that she was beautiful and loved.
