Moonstone

Rose Quartz
Deep within the Gladekeeper's realm lies a small corner nestled on the edge of Everbloom Gardens. A fallen tree buts up against a grassy rise where a smooth wooden door seems to melt into the hillside. It bears a carved nature flight emblem with leaves and flowers all around, and a riotous tangle of flowering vines seems to sprout from everywhere around the edges of the door.

A small flying dragon hovers nearby, watching quietly. Her coat is all iridescent greens and reds, much like a hummingbird except more... dragon-y. She chirps a few notes, and a tall young woman with brown skin and dark eyes emerges through the now opened door. Dark brown hair gives way to strands of green like the forest she lives in, hiding gently pointed ears. She wears a shimmering green fabric that seems to shift colors every few seconds and a small wooden wand hangs from a soft leather belt at her side.

"Thank you Chaya," she tells the small fae dragon, who darts away.

"Greetings," she says, and almost immediately, a large teal guardian emerges from the forest.

"I think they're a friend," she says to the dragon, who keeps a watchful eye but relaxes a little.

The young woman turns back. "You -are- a friend, yes?"

- TWO DECADES AGO -

From the stars, singed by the explosion of a planet now long gone came a small, glowing green pod, streaking across the horizon and sparking as it skimmed the atmosphere and broke through with a distant boom.

The massive young guardian's green eyes tracked the progress of the strange egg shaped projectile. As it soared over the Viridian Labyrinth, it seemed to pulse and glow a brighter green. And then as if suddenly losing power, it flickered, beginning to lose altitude. Lyrrin had been on her search for five long years now, and still not found a worthy charge. She knew her teachers would despair of her constant curiosity, but she had to know what that thing was.

Swiftly launching into the skies, she tried to grab the rapidly descending orb with her claws, but its surface was too smooth to grip. Annoyed with herself for never being able to let things go, she finally curled herself around the thing awkwardly, frantically flapping to slow the descent.

A strangled cry was torn from her. The pod was searing, still hot from its passage through the atmosphere, but she was committed now, and finally they slowed, drifting into Everbloom Gardens at a leisurely pace. When she touched the ground, Lyrrin released the pod, crawling into a nearby pool to cool herself.

When it no longer felt like she was about to catch on fire, Lyrrin turned her attention to the small, singed pod on the shore. She crawled over, emerging from the water to circle it curiously. It wasn't any kind of egg she had ever seen.

She nosed the small thing cautiously, but it was no longer burning, and rolled sideways to reveal an emblem she had never seen- a series of tangled vines curling in on themselves, and at the heart, a glowing green leaf that pulsed rapidly. Lyrrin nudged the leaf, and a previously unseen hatch slid open without a sound.

"Oh."

It was... well she wasn't sure what exactly it was, but it was clearly a hatchling of some sort, only the poor thing had no scales. Perhaps not her kind then. Actually she was almost certain it wasn't of Sornieth at all, which begged the question of where it was from.
