rushing up the grassy hills to catch the farthest breeze
the wind which plays with the skydancer often comes from the sunbeam seas kites strewn of cloth and feather, strings of twine and bindings of hide high in the sky amidst blankets of clouds do the bright colors ride Athux has a heart of gold and the excitement of a hatchling, just to look to the sky and see his kites dancing this is what he does, this is who he is a dragon who stays on the ground with his kites in the sky; ...in pure happiness, still, he will always live.

Athux is a kitemaker, self taught and independent. Though the latter wasn't all by choice. He's shy around other dragons and can only handle brief conversations before making an excuse to leave. Yet he does love his clanmates and loves to share his creations.
Most of his kites are dyed and sewn by hand in marvelous colors, often in orange and green. There are ribbons tied at the ends and small embroidered pictures in different panels. When they are in the sky, it's easy to see the love and excellent craftsmanship that goes into them. He's proud of each one created. There are times when he sells his beautiful kites, and as he explains the pieces there is always a story that goes with them, such as the inspiration into the design or what he was thinking about when he was sewing them. Hatchlings especially get along with Athux, as they don't make him as nervous and they share the same demeanor. However one big flaw that Athux is ashamed to admit is his fear of heights. The skydancer has never been seen flying in the air as high as his kites. He will glide over the landscape and (hesitantly) climb a tree to retrieve a kite, but he has never been more than a few meters in the air. His claws are always safely on the ground. But it seems what enjoyment the dragon doesn't have by flying in the air himself, he feels through the strings of his kites as they can reach heights he is too afraid to reach himself. |
