Wisp was their own little entity. A mystery that many dragons tried to solve but always seem to come up short. But, how could anyone figure out the origin of something they could not see? There were two things that Wisp revealed about themself that was common knowledge amongst dragonfolk: one, if you bring him something shiny, they’ll in return give you good luck and fortune and two, they love cats. The cats were the only give away that something lurked deep within the Starwood Strand. No dragon was deaf hearing the cats purr loudly in content or blind to the imprints of claws combing through their fur. Wisp found it amusing when dragons would try to find them and would mess with them a little, making their shiny offerings float in their face for a few seconds before disappearing. Some dragons would keep looking until they’re tired, others would roar in frustration and be on their way. But since he was a spirit of luck and good fortune, Wisp never forgot to repay a dragon for their kindness. Soon enough, wandering dragons who's heard of a spirit that brings good luck, began to travel far and wide. Not so they could see them but to get a piece of good fortune bestowed upon them. To be quite honest, Wisp wasn’t sure what their origins were either. All they knew was that one day they took their first breath and became alive. They knew that it had to do with the magic that flowed through the Arcane forest that helped with their creation, that same magic running through their veins. They didn’t care about how their life came to be anyway, perfectly content with existing. Content with playing with the two cats that live with them in their shrine and blessing those who bless them. It was a simple life really yet Wisp never complained. If they were lucky, their visitors not only brought them a shiny gift but also a story to tell. Wisp enjoyed listening to the ups and downs of a passing dragon’s life, the failures and successes. Even though they couldn’t talk back to them, they made sure they knew that they were listening and in return, they continued to talk. Some conversations ran so long that Wisp’s visitor would have to spend the night at the shrine, which hthey also enjoyed as well. They were much rarer than a conversation yet they didn’t care. They cherished them regardless. Lore written by Sacrilegious |
