When your mother is a famous Bogwitch and your father is her slow but powerful body guard, there are certain things expected of you. Ricinus has his mother's affinity for magic, and his father's physical physique and power, truly the best of both worlds. However, despite his effort, he struggles with both. He has trouble fighting due to being rather timid and easily frightened, so the Diamond Claw sent him to study with the Amethyst Spire mages. Unfortunately, he fares little better with the Spire, as he struggles to understand complex spell casting and magical theory. He consistently falls behind on his work, or fails to turn in projects to Kelltagonan at all. This tends to lead to downward spirals until he refuses to come out of his lair at all, preferring to read fiction over his text books to get lost in another world.

Kelltagonan has not given up on him yet though, he is young and Kell remembers being an unfocused Mirror pup unable to cast even the simplest of spells. With his mentor gently coaching and guiding him, they have been slowly making progress.
