Biography
Willow Floral Forest - Carer | Self-Defence Teacher Kind – Determined – Protective |
Willow sat at the edge of her den, head on her legs as she gazed across the cave, watching the daily bustle of dragons walking to and frow. This was the fourth place she'd try to settle in the last few months. The leader, if he was even that actually. This clan was definitely different to the others. The dragon that seemed to be in charge, no, even that felt wrong. No dragon was in charge here which was strange. A male pearlcatcher named Azair was definitely the most respected here though. As far as Willow could tell, Azair was some kind of seer, interpreting signs in the stars. Yet somehow, without the structure of most clans, this one thrived. Everyone knew and respected each other, fights that broke out were just as easily quashed by the calm attitudes of those around them and Willow had to admit, this was the calmest she'd felt in a long time. Though she hadn't been here long, everyone was kind to her though she knew her vaguely spiritual appearance didn't help. As hard as she tried she couldn't feel at home here. Even the plants like it here she thought with a sigh, I wonder if I'll grow to like it too. A shadow fell over Willow's face and she glanced up to see Ocean standing over her. "Would you mind watching over the hatchlings? I have to go fishing." Willow blinked in surprise at the guardian's words. Though everyone in the group had been very polite to her, she still felt like she wasn't completely trusted here. "Uh- Yeah, of course, if you need me to." She replied, clambering to her feet and heading towards the interlocking branches of the nursery. As she crossed the clearing she felt eyes on her and turned her head slightly to see Tik staring at her, his tail flicking anxiously. Maybe not completely trusted then. As she entered the den, she was immediately swarmed by the excited row of baby dragons. "You finally came to meet us!" A small pearlcatcher chirped, climbing excitedly over Willow's feet. A tiny fae hatchling fluttered around her face, "Play with us!" Almost immediately the others took up the chant and Willow felt them pushing at her towards the center of the cave. "Yep sure, okay." Willow murmured, slightly taken aback by their unbridled enthusiasm. When the sun started to dip towards the trees, the hatchlings were still full of energy even after playing catch and chase with Willow all afternoon. To her surprise, Willow had felt herself relaxing around them. She enjoyed how free they were to act or say whatever they felt and never care what another dragon might think. To get them to settle down, Willow offered to tell them a story, one she'd heard countless times before - the story of her father and how he sacrificed himself to save his forest, and now how he watched over it. She didn't even have to finish her story before they were all asleep. Tails and legs flung a strew in a lump of snoring hatchlings. Willow smiled to herself and exited the den as quietly as she could. She met Ocean's gaze from where the guardian was sharing a meal with Azair and straightened up as Azair beckoned her over. "Tik said you did an amazing job with the hatchling's today." The pearlcatcher said as Willow approached. Willow dipped her head, slightly self-conscious and murmured "They're all sleeping now." Oceans eyes glowed with warmth as she stared at Willow "That's definitely an achievement! They're never asleep before moon high." The guardian flicked her tail and continued. "It's getting harder to provide for so many mouths when all their parents have to check on them every ten minutes. How would you feel about caring for them while the others go out?" The feathers on Willow's wing quivered with surprise but she couldn't hide the joy in her voice as she replied "I'd love to." |
