Back before Angelos, there were Genos and Mordos. Together with Chronos, they maintained the balance between the spirits and ruled over them fairly and justly. While quieter than her partner Genos, Mordos had a deep wisdom that came from seeing many things end. She could see ahead to when a creature's time is up, and help them along as their spirit left their body. She never quite understood why mortals feared her, as without death, what significance would life have? She was very distant from mortals as a result, and even from many of her fellow spirits. But her wisdom was sought often when the lesser spirits would quarrel. She came off as wiser than Genos, but she would always say that was only because of her calm demeanor. Her voice was low and soothing, and though most feared her while alive, they always found comfort in her at the moment of their death.

Though Altos always wished that she would consult with him (possibly even conspire with him) Mordos always rebuffed his advances. She had little patience for his desire to upset the balance and try to grab at power. He would always listen, at least, when she told him that his latest scheme was a bad idea. While she never went out of her way to step in, she also never minced words when her opinion was asked. Mordos always had a great respect for Genos and Chronos, and valued their opinions as much as they did hers.
