Name: Atalka
from the Kalapuya word for the january full moon, meaning "stay inside"

"the god of winter, legends say he's half wolf and wanders through the snow looking for lost travelers to eat. he considers anything that touches the snow to be his."


Bluemoon Coloration

Moon at birth: He was borne during a total lunar eclipse of the first full moon of the year. His moon is called the Wolf Moon, but some know it as the Old Moon or Ice Moon. On January 21, 2019 it was also a supermoon, meaning the moon was at its closest to the Earth.
"Shadow Moonbeasts are the only type to exhibit calculated ‘hunting’ behavior when Uncontrolled. Most Moonbeasts go on a ‘blind rampage’ when fully Uncontrolled, but Shadow Moonbeasts tend to pick one or a few victims at a time and tantalize them. Before the kill, they’ll drag the chase on- playing mind games and feeding off of fear. Luckily, Shadow Moonbeasts get a boost of control during the waning moon phases."

Similar to werewolves, Moonbeasts undergo a Moon-influenced transformation. However, there are major differences. All have a permanent beast-like appearance and by night they 'lose control' becoming savage, bloodthirsty, and destructive. The degree to which they lose control depends on the phase of the moon. Physical features such as claws, fangs, and muscular build might become more pronounced and exaggerated as the moon phase progresses towards Full. Some Moonbeasts have worked so hard to discipline themselves that they only lose complete control on nights of a Full Moon.
