Biography

Quote:
Ozzy's stay in the border town was briefer than he might have liked, but he learned many things while he was there. Not least among them: There were worlds out there incomprehensibly different from the cloistered tower he grew up in, with its secrets and sacrifices and forbidden magic.

Worlds of gentleness, and honesty, and storytelling, and fun lighthearted creatures.

Creatures who would be destroyed by the creeping darkness and monsters that tore their way through the universe.

"They're beautiful," the girl said.

And when he replied, "Not as beautiful as you," he meant it with a fierceness that surprised him.

He didn't even know her name. But he was determined to see the kids grow up safe, and healthy, and happy. And, above all...to learn to fight monsters.

"Do you know how to fight in this village?"

The nocturne giggled as if he'd made a funny joke, and rolled herself up in her wings, belly to the sky so she could angle her head up and look at him.

"We have no need of it."

"You will soon." His gaze traveled over the little ones. He would not bring them home. Not where they could fall into Pascale's hands. But he could not leave them defenseless, either. "There is a wandering guardian named Pearl. She has two companions. I will send word for her. When they arrive, let them teach our children to fight."

"But why...?"

"Something awful is coming." And he wanted to explain, but he could say no further.

This bit's by Fenshae!

Ronel never knew his father, but he knows the last conversation he had with his mother had scared her. Badly. She rarely showed it under the light of day, but when the shadows grew close about the small village where he grew up she grew... nervous. She would keep them all inside until the sun touched the ground beneath the grass, and the rooms were so well-lit that her quickly-maturing children had a real concern about fire.

The first time Ronel saw the stars was the night after he left to find his own path in Sornieth, one where- if the coming danger was real- he could find somewhere capable of surviving it. His mother had not wanted them to learn to fight, saying that it was too dangerous and their village had no need of such rough arts, despite her nightly worries. In the light of day, she acted as the cheery dragon she must have been before, treating the idea of fighting as laughable. So he left. He'll return though, one day, to fight for and protect the village that won't be able to save itself.

For now, he's found a home with a clan living along the cliffs of the Sunbeam Ruins. They've got a faction that's a bit too... fanatical about the Lightweaver for his liking, but the rest of the clan seems nice, and they've got steady leadership backed up by several teams of powerful warriors. Hopefully, enough warriors that he won't be missed when he has to go help his birth home.

Ronel went to one of the warriors of the clan and offered a trade- hunting for training. He will be ready when the bad time comes, whatever form it may take.
