When Miori came back to her senses, she was greeted by darkness. Darkness and pain. She tried to sit up, but her body did not obey her mind. Everything hurt, her wings, her torso, her head. She remembered the panic and the icy cold. Now, however, she was warm. She blinked into the darkness, trying to recognize her surroundings when suddenly, steps approached her. A flysheet was lifted and in the light falling in, Miori could make out a female Skydancer. Her fur was entirely black, white runes covering her torso. Her eyes were green and had a stern look. But it grew softer, friendlier when her gaze met Miori’s. “I see you awoke”, the Skydancer said, with a deep and somewhat smoky voice. “Do not fret, you are save here.”

Personality

Shimmering Cloth
Engaging Still Life
Stuffed Pincushion

Miroi is an artist at heart. For her, art—painted or sewn—is an expression of herself. Without it, she feels empty and insecure. She is a very precise dragon and perfectionistic. Everything has to be in order, mistakes are not tolerated. Due to her steady claws and her patience, she barely makes mistakes. If she does, however, and cannot achieve the wanted result, she will rather start over new than be content with the “flawed” outcome.

For her art, she needs high-quality supplies, which often leads to her and Siren discussing about the lair’s savings. Both agree that treasure should be put to good use, but they have very different opinions on what a good use might be. Aside from those disputes however, the two of them get along well. Miori designed Siren a new outfit, which the Fae greatly appreciates.

Miori is also easily offended. When discussing with her or criticizing, one should be very careful… or not do it at all. Else it might happen that Miori will avoid contact for days.

Pearlfeather is her chosen mentor, as the delicate Skydancer inspires her with both his wisdom and his sylphlike appearance. The two of them can often be found in Miori’s or Pearlfeather’s cave, chatting about art and the world.

Besides the dragons in the lair, Miori shares a deep friendship with Fate, the leader of the Obsidian Grove. Even though they currently lost contact, Miori can never forget that Fate saved her life.

Background

Miori was born to Lyncil and Yuuri and grew up with her mother and her clan. Soon in her life, Miori discovered her passion and talent for art. She started out with paintings, but soon moved on to fabricate woven carpets, blankets, or hoods. Her mother supported her and her art, the two of them having a very loving relationship.

However, curiosity drove Miori away from her home and her friends. She had never known her father, but thoughts about him kept nagging her in the back of her mind. She had to get to know him and to see, who he was. And she needed to know whether he was proud of her. So she set out on a dangerous journey towards the Southern Icefields where her father had last be seen.

But she should never speak to him.

During her travels, Miori learned much more about cloth, sewing, and clothing. Soon she started buying cloth and selling the garb she made on her travels, making a living for herself. Many dragons she encountered warned her of the hostile atmosphere in the Icelands, but Miori continued any way.

Miori underestimated the icy winds and the huge lack of both food and company, having no experience with ice cold climate. She knew who she was searching for, but finding a group of bandits in a tundra is a hopeless undertaking. Soon, Miori regretted her decision of pushing forward, feeling helpless in the wide white plains. She tried to make her way back to the mainland, but she was lost. After days of lonesome travels, exhaustion numbed her senses and she fell unconscious.

This time, however, the odds were in her favor. The Obsidian Grove, a group of smugglers, currently was delivering orders in the area. Fate, their leader, found the collapsed Skydancer in the snow and took her in. She cured her wounds and let her stay with the Grove. Miori and her became good friends during that time.

But Miori noticed the smuggler life was not what she desired. She wanted to be an artist, to create something breathtaking. While Fate was of great importance to her, the life she lived was not what Miori desired. So she left again when they were close to Starwood Strand.

While searching for a place to stay, Miori encountered Ornes. He invited her to stay the night, one reason being that Claudius and his goons were not too far off. Miori joined him, thankful for the offer. The Rose Spar caught her attention, especially Pearlfeather, who showed huge interest in her art and tailoring. She stayed one night, then another, and soon was a set member of the lair.

Relationships

Chosen Mentor

Pearlfeather
invisibleinvisible

Pearlfeather was the one that made Miori feel home in the Rose Spar. While of course Alaysa and Shirogane also welcomed her, Pearlfeather showed her around, introduced her to the other dragons, and even made sure she’d get her own atelier. Something about him caught her attention straight away. It was his way with words, his love for art, and his sophisticated attitude. Miori can spend hours with him without getting bored the slightest.

Old Friend

Fate
invisibleinvisible

Fate saved Miori’s life back in the Southern Icefield and Miori is still incredibly grateful. She yet has to find a way to repay the Obsidian Cove. Miori and Fate shared many evenings on the campfire, talking about nothing specific. Still, Miori counts Fate to her closest friends.

Rival

Siren
invisibleinvisible

Siren and Miori have a difficult relationship. It is not that they despise each other. In fact, they could even be friends if they would not quarrel about money and the meaning of art all the time. Miori thinks that Siren is overly strict when it comes to the lair’s funds. What good does a huge pile of treasure do if it is not invested? Art is expensive and Miori knows that, but Siren doesn’t seem to share her point. Still, the two of them often share a cup of tea.

Friend

Quinn
invisibleinvisible

When Fate brought Quinn to the Rose Spar, Mirori decided to take them under her wing. As soon as they were back on their feet, Mirori showed them around, organized them a place to sleep, and introduced them to the other dragons. She wanted them to feel at home, just like Pearlfeather made her feel at home. Soon, they became friends. Even though Mirori often wishes Quinn was less shy and more self-confident, she will not let any dragon talk badly about them.
