Possibly the most skilled healer of the clan, poor Mercy doesn't get much gratitude for what she does. She's thinking of charging treasure for her services, but nobody likes that idea.

Hello, I am Mercy.
I am a healer, of Bronzewing’s lair, my two parents Connick and Ezeria are amazing Wildclaw parents. Being the best healer is an easy job, but also, I teach the young dragons on how to heal, or go on flying trips. I am still learning also. Being called Mercy is just fun, cause my owner says I look like a Character from a game called Overwatch (I don’t own overwatch), but I look good as that character. I don't have any young dragons, due to me being a healer.

Mercy is the clan's healer.
A pretty skilled one too, considering the fact that almost everyone in her family has been one since the beginning of time, and she was raised to be one as well (oh joy!), not that she had much choice on the matter anyway.

Being a clan healer might be a good job in someone's eye: you don't have to fight, you get, almost, free food and get to stay all day enjoying yourself while the others do the hard work.
Unless your name is Mercy, and you live in Waverider's clan.

"Mercy come over, my nose is runny!"
"Mercy, please help me, I ate too much mackerel and my stomach hurts"
"Mercy, could you please give me a bit more of juice?"
"Mercy, I think my horn just fell off".
All day, every day.
From when the Sun comes up to when it goes down.

So she just ends up running all over the place trying to balance a bowl on her head and a bunch of bottles in her hands, her feathers all ruffled up because she didn't even have a second to sit down and try to look decent before having to rush from room to room.
Windsinger have mercy.

And, after minutes of hearing someone crying their little heart out because of a stomachache , she finally finishes the soup she has prepared and start tending them in the most tender way, the only thing she hears being said is "Mercy, the soup is a little cold still".

And in that exact second, Mercy has to partake in all of her inner strength to not jump over the sick patient and knock them out with a nice good headbutt.
Instead, she forces herself to smile and nods.
"Of course, I'll warm it up for a little bit more" she responds through gritted teeth, having to keep herself from adding "idiot" to it.
She'll lose her mind one of these days, she swears.

Once she has tried to charge her services for treasures, thinking that maybe her classmates would have rethinked about their behavior and all she did without asking for a single treasure.
Instead, they got mad, almost kicked her out and got a new healer.
And she would like to keep her place in the clan, thank you very much.

So she came up with the fact that it was just a silly little joke and she meant no harm.
And everything went back to normal.
Sadly.

Mercy doesn't know if her parents had to go through the same thing she is going through right now, and if they did she wonders why in Plaguebringer's name they decided it was a good idea to let her be an healer as well.
Revenge, probably.

One thing she knows for sure, though, is that, no matter what, she'll never put her hatchlings through this.
Mostly because she can't have hatchlings, but still.
There's no way someone else in her family line will be an healer.
At least not while she's still around.

Moans of the wounded were a fiery beast, rumbling untamed across the healer’s cave. They were all muttering the same thing, pleading and begging for a cure.
“Save me… Save me… Save me…” they all seemed to babble, becoming an empty chant that Mercy always heard.
When a dragon finally said something different, Mercy snapped to attention, peering intently at the injured prophetess clutched her arm and spoke in an urgent voice.
“Desperate and insane,
Cry of a crane.
Blood shall weep,
Veins of a leaf.
Filled with longing,
Sorrow of singing.
Pierce with dart,
Mercy of a heart.”
the injured prophetess sighed, laying a gentle talon over Mercy’s heart before falling unconscious.
Mercy’s eyes widened as she shook the prophetess desperately.
“Wake up. Please… There’s so much I want to ask you,” she begged to no avail. “Please… Save me... Save me. Save me!”
She shrieked with an insane light dancing her her eyes. A hushed silence fell across the clan, every dragon turning to stare at her. “Please… Set me free. Let me fly to where I desire to be. S- Save me...”
Mercy choked back a sob, longing flooding the depths of her eyes . She did not know where she truly longed to be. Maybe it was just outside the cave where the cherry blossom trees bloomed. It was so bright! There was so much light! The hatchlings were often chasing one another outside, laughing joyfully with carefree smiles smeared across their faces. At that thought, the healer glanced outside, wishing she was one of them. She wished she could fly free…
“Free,” she muttered dreamily, closing her eyes as she imagined the wondrous wish coming true.
One by one, the dragons in the clan blinked, staring at her for a long moment before turning away. The wounded resumed their endless chant while the warriors babbled on, continuing their conversation. The normality of it all made it seem as if nothing had happened at all. Besides healing, everything she did or said was insignificant. Maybe she was insignificant.
“I-,” Mercy opened her mouth to speak only to close it again, tears welling in the depths of her eyes.
Her hopes, wishes, and dreams torn apart into trillions of tiny pieces so very like to plant polutices that she made. They were smashed in the merciless jaws of the fiery beast, consuming her essence until she was left with… A shell? Nothing? Mercy did no know.
No one listened to her anyways. Instead, Mercy tuned out their words, a vacant look drifting across her face as she went from dragon to dragon with a batch of herbs in her talons. This was better. This was safer. The dragon knew it was a lie, but she had to believe something.
None of them called her name. They all knew her as ‘The Healer.’ Maybe it didn’t matter anymore. Perhaps they wouldn’t live beyond another sunrise. Still, Mercy patched up their wounds without a word. Perhaps she was nothing but the air they breathed. She was the prey of the beast. Did she even belong to herself at all? Who was she?

There was a cry of a crane.
“Cry of a crane,” Mercy echoed, frowning at those familiar words.
A distant memory jingled in the back of her mind, but she couldn’t… No, she wouldn’t let it surface. She knew that meant it was filled with sorrow and pain. She did not wish to feel that ever again. Still, the crane cried. Maybe it was suffering the way she was. Maybe it really needed her. The crane cried louder still.
“I- I’m coming. I’m coming,” Mercy called, grabbing her satchel of herbs as she passed by.
All of a sudden, she was racing outside, the wind rustling her wings. She gasped when she spotted the fallen body of the crane, fighting the urge to squeeze her eyes shut. Wisps of blood trailed over its snow white wings, the angry claw marks making the poor creature whimper in pain. It gazed up at Mercy with pleading, blue eyes the way Mercy had done with the prophetess. Mercy could help this bird, and she would, bending over the animal to heal its scratches.
“You’re safe now. I’m here for you,” she murmured the words she had always longed to hear, gently clutching the creature to her heart as the sun rose in the sky.
Gazing at the glorious light, Mercy knew they were safe together. She could have turned away from the crane and fled from the clan, making her dreams come true. However, Mercy knew she didn’t have the heart to. After all, she was The Healer. She was Mercy.

Mercy stared incredulously at the dragon who had come in for her services. Yet another dragon who had somehow managed to break his foot tripping over nothing. Great. Now she had to waste valuable resources fixing someone who, by all accounts, should not have needed to be fixed.

“I should start charging treasure for this,” Mercy muttered under her breath as she fetched her materials. “Perhaps then that’ll inspire everyone to start looking out for themselves.”

“You can’t do that!” Exclaimed the dragon. “You’re too good of a nurse!”

“You’re only proving my point,” Mercy sighed, then set to work setting the dragon’s injured foot. Today was going to be a long day.
