Biography
Lady Diamond's Lore
*~*~*
She was tired.
Why was she so tired?
Her head seemed heavy and full of cotton fluff, her body lethargic and floaty as she tried to move and pull her head from where it lay beneath her wing. With more than a few growls and with none of the grace she normally possessed, she was finally able to do so, bleary golden eyes struggling to focus on her surroundings.
She was on the Windswept Plateau, the Twisting Crescendo towering high above her, picking up and carrying away any and everything it touched, to send it spiraling across the sky to only Windsinger knew where.
As she observed the great vortex, she realized that great pain was beginning to seep into her mind and body. Bringing her gaze down to herself, she couldn’t help but let out a shriek. Her legs and wings were crumpled, destroyed mockeries of their former shapes, blood glittering crimson on her dove gray scales and wingsails tattered beyond repair.
She cried her fear, pain, and dismay to the winds, the sound swallowed by the swirling air, tears streaming down her slender cheeks to dry in salty tracks. She knew she was going to die; here, alone, with only the earth and air to know of her fate, the thought causing more tears to flood from her eyes.
Everything was hidden from her behind the shining white veil of her tears, her life seeping away onto the stones she had crashed into while trying to surmount the Twisting Crescendo. This was to be her end in Sornieth.
“There still might be a chance for you, young one, oh yes, there just might,” A tittering voice spoke, making her open her eyes again, seeking out the speaker.
Before her, perched on a nearby crag, was a blindingly colored Wildclaw, looking at her with sharp, inquisitive eyes, his head cocked at an angle. Her own eyes went wide, voice strained as she croaked out, “What do you mean, ‘a chance’?”
He moved forward with spritely ease and confidence, bringing his face closer to hers, “I can help you, little one, but you must pay my price. Some cannot handle the deal I offer, but your sorrow summoned me here, and I shall offer it to you.”
“What is your deal?”
He fluttered his wings with excitement, the chains that draped him chiming and tinkling in the air that had inexplicably grown quieter. Reaching out a claw, he gently touched her cheek, “I want your colour and in return I will heal and restore you to life.”
“My colour? With all those you already possess, why would my simple gray be of any interest to you?”
“That is my own business,” he stated with a dismissive air, straightening himself. “Now do we have a deal, or not?”
She didn’t want to die, there was much she wanted to do and see in the world, but would this Wildclaw really be able to do as he said? She wanted to believe him, wanted to live again and find a place to call home. Raising her head, she answered him.
“I accept your offer, Master Wildclaw. My colour shall be yours.”
He hopped up and down in ill-concealed joy, beginning to chant and scatter her with a powder produced from within the folds of his kilt. Slowly, she felt warmth beginning to well up within her, bringing with it a sense of healing and sleep, her eyes starting to droop and close of their own volition. She was frightened for a moment, before the Wildclaw spoke again, his voice sounding far away and echoed, “Sleep now, young one. Awaken to a new life.”
