xxxTheme song: the witch of the forest- piano transcription
Battle Theme: none yet

A very long time ago, when the deities their battle was more vicious and cruel than it is nowadays, many turned to other entities to aid them. Some were created by the eleven themselves, others born simply put from the dragon’s faith. Some had set roles, others changed and shifted depending on what their worshippers needed, and some were so oddly specific that it leaves one wondering how they ever came to be.

However, none of these ‘sub-deities’ was as capricious as the RiNG. Their worshippers were mainly gamblers, or those who had fallen into despair and turned to a new deity in hopes they could aid them. Many non-followers often stated that only madness and suffering dared to follow the RiNG, and in a sense they weren’t wrong.

Though capricious, the RiNG did bring their followers happiness at times. Those who were blessed by their deity sang praise and never forgot just how fortunate they were. Due to their power over fortune and luck itself, the RiNG could overshadow many other entities and deities in their power, and when they blessed someone, they did not hold back.

The downside of this was, for every blessing, someone would be cursed. For each prayer answered, one would be ignored, and for every item of value given, one arguably ‘worthless’ one would be gifted too.

The RiNG is truly a capricious and fickle being, which could play into why they’re still around after most other deities have vanished.

Centuries passed, and those who followed the RiNG were no longer compiled of gamblers and those who had fallen into despair. Young, thrill and fortune-seeking dragons joined in as well. Though they heard the stories of how the entity could bring ruin as well as fortune, they paid it little to no mind. No matter who you were, how pure or corrupted, how old or young, how rich or poor; the RiNG treated all the same, and that’s what drew most dragons in. Many tried to understand the RiNG- some even becoming oracles- but very few rarely if ever did. Even the ones who had gained the ability to reach into the realm of this entity had trouble grasping their words. It was as if speaking to the being was a gamble as well, for some were driven mad in their attempts to understand the capricious being.

However, just as the RiNG’s following began to dwindle- the thrill-seeker realizing that the fortune they sought could probably not be obtained with as much ease as they had envisioned- one oracle managed to finally hear something the RiNG spoke about clearly. It was a simple word, but it stirred the entirety of the following into action.

The word the oracle heard was ‘vessel’.

For months the followers collected eggs and such in hopes that at least one of them would be fitting for the RiNG to posses- praying to both the fickle being and any other deity they knew of that it would lead to the fortune they had all secretly dreamed of.

Finally, when the following had figured they had gathered enough to hopefully appease the entity the began to hatch them.

As soon as the shell of the first egg broke, the followers realized they’d found their perfect vessel.

All other eggs were sold, in favour of painting this vessel’s skin and wings with vibrant colors, decorate its body with expensive silks and jewellery. For a while, dragons figured that fortune would finally come their way.

...but nothing much changed.

Years went by, and while the vessel -who had been named ‘Iva’- grew, they never said a word, nor did they eat or even blink. They watched the world with eyes containing thousands of years worth of wisdom and memories, but not once did they share it. Some were blessed, some recieved nothing, others were cursed… nothing had changed at all.

Until one day, Iva got up on her own, and started walking.

Given the time of day, not many dragons were awake. So when Iva left her temple and walked trough the small city that surrounded it, very few witnessed it.

Even less chose to follow her.

Iva’s temple and the city that surrounded it were located in a shallow cave, shielding both from the sun for most of the day. When Iva left it, about nine others were closely behind her. Iva stopped, and her followers caught up with her. Seconds after they did, the ground shook.

An earthquake.

The shallow cave that had held all other followers of the vessel, caved in, most likely killing everyone inside. The very few who had followed Iva panicked and immediately began trying to move the rubble.

Iva watched for a little while, before turning away and continuing onward.

The very few who truly ‘followed’ her had survived, at the cost of losing everything, while those who just wanted wealth died with their possessions…
