Biography
Personality: Prelude is strange to most dragons, but not to those who grew up in the Starfall Isles. She rarely speaks, saying exactly what is necessary and no more–she enjoys being the smartest dragon in the room, and prefers to save her energy for her musings. She spends lots of time looking at the sky, even though the snowstorms often obscure the stars. She has taken a personal interest in teaching the new Chief, whether the subject be magic, match, astronomy, or combat. She find it amusing when others are confused by her; she will occasionally decide to speak only in riddles (until she grows bored of it).
History: Prelude grew up alone, on the rocky faces of the Crystalspine Reaches. Completely alone; if she had parents, she never met them, and she hid from any dragons who wandered too close. She spent massive amounts of time sitting high in the air, watching all the tiny dragons flit around their constructs, doing menial tasks in their uninteresting little lives.
Then she met someone truly interesting. One night she was clinging to a crystal face, drawing conclusions about the stars (her favorite pastime). She was suddenly come upon by–something. The something looked like a dragon, sort of. It had most of the shape of a nocturne, but it had a hide that seemed to swallow light and a blinding molten arcane core. Prelude called it Besame. It was completely bestial, as far as she could tell. It ate raw meat and hid in caves too shallow to be called a lair; Prelude decided to have it for a pet.
Besame was breaking down. This was obvious to her, if not to anyone else; it was a difficult journey, but Prelude managed to get Besame south to the Icefields, hoping the suppressing force of Ice magic would slow the decline.
