Born to a wandering family of scholars, Qitiandashen developed a love for mapmaking at a young age. As an adolescent, she left her family to set off on her own, journeying across all of Sornieth, but the Windswept Plateau was always on her mind, and eventually she decided to return home and map out the Plateau in exquisite detail. It was over the course of this endeavour that she met Elain and Inara, themselves searching for the singing shrines of the ancient zephyr dancers. Qiti’s maps included the locations of several ruins, and she was able to point them in the right direction. Later on, out of idle curiosity, she headed that way herself, and was surprised to find an already-thriving village. |

Qiti’s official occupation is that of a cartographer, and she falls under Inara’s selection of scholars. The wide variety of maps that she has created prove invaluable, particularly to couriers or lost travellers, and her contribution to the clan is not easily overlooked Her current project is working alongside Kara to create a map of leylines across Sornieth. In part by chance, and in part because of her history with Elain and Inara, Qiti also has the less formalised role of ambassador to the local kitsune clans. She and her familiar Cho have plenty of familiarity with kitsune culture between them, and Elain is a firm believer in maintaining good relations with nearby beastclans. |

One of the upsides to Qiti's constant travelling is that it allows her to make many friends, not all of them dragon. Cho is a kitsune who took a shining to Qiti when she first visited his clan, and they've travelled together on and off. Since she settled in Serenity, Cho has taken up the role of ambassador to kitsune clans. |

Kara is Qiti's best friend and academic partner. The pair of them are currently working together on a project to map out the leylines spread across Sornieth. |
