PERSONALITY
Maya alternates between being a complete tomboy and being one of the most uptight people that you will ever meet. No matter which mood she's in, she is always on edge. She can be very competitive and she always seems like she has something to prove. She's too quiet to fight often, but when she does, it's loud and brutal. Despite all of this, she is a caring and loyal friend, and generally a fun person to be around, but her constantly switching moods can make it hard for others to get close to her. Most of the others will like her in one mood but not the other, and push her away. She values loyalty highly, so no one who treats her like that can ever truly be her friend. Once she does find a friend, however, she'll reveal a sweet side of herself that she doesn't often show others. Most of those that don't know her very well find her quiet, but occasionally intimidating.
SKILLS
Maya has the ability to enter and influence the dreams of others. Using this gift, she is able to communicate information, find information that she wants, or torture people with nightmares.
BACKGROUND
Maya used to live in New Hampshire, the oldest of four girls. When she was younger it was believed that she had insomnia, because she forced herself to stay awake to avoid the dreams. As she got older, she believed that she had some strange case of having very strong lucid dreams, but once other people mentioned having seen her in their dreams as well, Maya realized that there was something much stranger going on. The only person that she had ever trusted enough to talk to about these dreams was her grandmother, who gave the best advice that she could, and never called Maya crazy, unlike everyone else. A few days before her fourteenth birthday, Maya's grandmother died unexpectedly. That was the night that Maya started having nightmares. And that was the night that the entirety of her small town started having them too. After dozens of people reported having seen Maya in their dreams, people started whispering about how she was a witch girl, and she was shunned by everyone, including her family. It was only a few days before the keepers showed up, and Maya's family let them take her with no fight. |
