Rohan hummed in thought. "There actually was a particularly interesting "story" I caught from a traveler just recently. His past didn't particularly grab my interest, but his inner monologue was surprisingly vocal. Why he seemed to think so many things yet say so little was quite intriguing to me. He was the strong brooding type of guy, you know the kind. It probably sounds silly, nitpicky even, but it's the little things--the minutia of a person than make them unique! I thought he was like a wandering soul trapped inside a solid stone statue, unable to escape and yearning to wander. Hell, maybe that's why he traveled, searching for something." "He said he traveled for his work, research of some kind, I wasn't really listening. But after I prodded a little, he said he didn't know what exactly he was looking for. I thought he was trying to be mysterious of course, but after I flipped through the pages of his mind, I read something that actually proved me wrong for once. He wasn't lying, or being mysterious. He merely followed his instincts. Something is pulling him through Sornieth. He feels a part of himself is missing, but he can't put it into words, what it is or how it feels." Rohan smiled and looked giddy. "And I thought: So what his past is boring, it's his future that holds the real story. We'll just have to wait around for it!" |
