Biography
Time for some non-canon shenanigans! Because I love some tropes very, very much.
Sunder is an evil scientist who wants to be taken seriously. But he also wants to have friends. Then he can teach them to sing his theme song! And he'll be the coolest evil scientist of them all. Cooler than Martin, his boss, who figured out how to literally turn lead into gold, and single-handedly funds their entire operation. Because every supervillain needs an evil animal companion, right?
|
A video crackles to life. "Okay," says Sunder from somewhere out-of-frame, "hear me out, Martin–" The head scientist in question turns around. You can't make out his features, but he is silent. Sunder walks into frame. Countless small animals comically adorn his wings, his spines, his back; a row of budgies perch on his nose. "Yes, I know what the policy on pets is, these aren't pets–" "DFUHkahkhfkajnd." Martin's voice is garbled over the transmission, but Sunder understands him. He gently nudges one of the budgies' tails out out of the way. "Okay, first of all, how dare you. I am an evil villain, thank you very much!" His boss watches speechlessly as Sunder stops one of the frogs from leaping to its doom. |
"JNkajrka. DNKf auhkgka."
"Wha-" he pauses and adjusts his monocle. "Look," he says firmly, "these are for research."
Martin looks at him. Gets up and leaves. "IEFBkakjdkfirjaoeq."
"No," Sunder protests loudly and trails behind Martin, revealing the ferret scampering along his tail. It seems to be having a good time. "No, I'm not making excuses, how dare you even SUGGEST that–"
The video-feed stops.
A sound clip starts to play. Birds, frogs, and crickets sing a wonderful song in perfect harmony. When they finish, a dragon claps enthusiastically.
Sunder's voice is immediately recognisable, as is the pride in his voice. "See Martin, look! Look at this! Aren't they wonderful?"
This time, Martin's voice is not distorted. His voice is low, silky smooth, with a dangerous edge to it. "Fine," he says. "Where's the masterpiece you wanted to show me?"
Sunder, bless his heart, tries to remain optimistic. "It... it's right here. I just showed it to you."
Silence.
You can hear Martin breathing deeply as he struggles to maintain his composure. "You're telling me," he hisses, "you spent FIVE MONTHS teaching your friends how to sing a theme song?!"
"It only took me five months," says Sunder smugly.
"OH, FOR THE LOVE OF–"
The audio cuts off.
