October is the guide into the Boneyard and is typically the one greeting any newcomer into the territory. She is a warm, welcoming spirit that is happy to lead the way into her shared home with any weary traveler, glad that she could be of service to bring them in out of the dangerous wilds.

As she walks her new charges into the Boneyard Proper, she explains that this territory is unique, and that in all likeliness, the strange magics that have caused her to sprout leaves and tree limbs all over her body will eventually reach out to the newcomer. She soothes their fear, saying that it doesn't hurt and it won't kill them in the least. Many are happy, even prefer their newer forms over what they had been.
If the newcomer is an Ice dragon, on the other hand, her heart is torn in two. Her Charge, her duty as a Guardian, is to protect the Boneyard and to guide all strangers who come to its door inward, not to ward them off. Still, Ice dragons are in very real danger the moment they step inside her territory. "Do not listen to the song," she will quietly warn, often unto deaf ears. "Do not go into the Cold."

It rarely works, and too often has she spied an Ice dragon slinking off into the Gloom at night from her perch above. But she cannot move from her post. She is the Guide, not the Guard.
