In all the history of the praying mantis, there has only been ONE mortal dragon who worked there (not counting the foster home attached to it- which has had its fair share of mortal dragons). Everyone else is in fact an entity, which includes the Tonys.

Though the Tonys appear hatchling-like, they’re about as old as the headmaster- or maybe a little bit younger, and have been a part of the praying mantis ever since it was founded. They chose to work there to have something to call ‘home’, and even have a wing dedicated to them. While there are only five Tonys who frequently show themselves, it is not uncommon to see a sixth of a seventh one- in fact it’s uncertain how many Tonys there REALLY are. A former student once spend the entirety of his time at the praying mantis taking notes on how many differen Tonys he saw, and by the time he was ready to graduate there were around 781 ‘documented’ Tonys- and everyone was pretty sure there were more of them.

Most Tonys prefer to hang out with other Tonys, and not so much with dragons or entities who AREN’T a Tony. This stems from a very simple thing: their name.

Every single Tony seems to know every Tony, and Tonys don’t see to have an issue talking about other Tonys with Tonys, purely because every Tony has a slightly different pronunciation to their name- which only the Tonys seem to be aware of. If someone adressed a Tony but uses the WRONG pronounciation of their name the Tony frequently will end up confused, and asking of they want to speak to a DIFFREND Tony. To them its like you’re calling them by their sibling, parent or neighbor’s name.

Despite that odd fact, every single Tony has their own unique personality, likes and dislikes, hobbies and social life.

For example, this Tony’s name is pronounced ‘Toneigh’ and she’s considered the leader by most other Tonys, who follow her command without hesitation.
