Niflheim was born in cold northern forests where daylight was little and nights were long. Such an environment is difficult to survive in, where both predator and prey are more than willing to fight rather than flee. To survive, the denizens had to adopt; hunts had to be fast, stealthy, and clean. This has carried over to their warriors, which includes Niflheim. While one might assume they make great assassins, and their skills certainly would, due to cultural morals, they prefer to be hired as specialized mercenaries.

It is not uncommon for members of their kind to travel the world where their employers need them, and Niflheim is no different. Though he rarely speaks, what he hides behind is silence is a surprising amount of knowledge of the world. In spite of his quietness, he has had numerous mates, however only ever temporarily, throughout his life. While his outward appearance demonstrate an intimidating demeanor, the truth is that he is an intimate and sensitive partner.

During his time as a mercenary, he found himself meeting Algol, and a friendship developed between the two. After Niflheim's daughter, Hel, was born, Algol sent a message to Niflheim, that foresaw that she would have special abilities not dissimilar from his own. As Hel grew older, Niflheim would retire to raise her, and just as Algol predicted, she demonstrated some kind of power that he could not understand, and when she was old enough, he convinced her to go study with Algol to further develop her abilities.

He currently resides not far from the two of them, living in quiet solitude, making a life for himself as a woodsman, surviving on what he can gather and hunt from nature's wilds as well as tending to his own small farm suited just for himself.
