Ashe

Ashe is very prideful, and takes his job as an artificer of magically-powered machinery very seriously. Without his constant ministrations, the plumbing and waste-disposal systems would completely break down. As a Lightning dragon originally, Ashe was raised around Lightning-style systems and machines, so when he moved to the Arcane territory for a brief stint he was taken aback at the style of the Arcane technology. Even though most of the Arcane pieces were made out of wood and crystal, they were more efficient, faster, and longer-lasting than many of the Lightning pieces he had serviced.

Entranced by the Arcane’s way of technological breakthroughs, Ashe signed on with one of the more prominent magical academies and spent a few years learning all he could about Arcane technology before he moved back to Lightning. His new methods of construction and enchantment were frowned upon, however, so he decided to pick up roots and move to the neighboring Light territory. The Hewn City, newly resurrected, was a popular destination for dragons seeking a new start, so he made the short journey across the river with all his tools and belongings and set up shop in the Hewn City’s newly reconstructed engineering laboratory.

Within several months, he had proven himself to be much more skilled than the other engineers that also occupied the same space, so he was given the overseer’s role. He developed the water pumping and waste destruction systems further, building off of the original designs before enchanting them with a mix of Arcane and Lightning magic. Now the systems run smoother than ever, and experience less breakdowns.

As a parting gift from one of his instructors, Ashe carries a fragment of the Crystalspine mountain range sewn into a gossamerlike fabric. The crystal itself was enchanted with weightlessness, so it is easy to wear and carry. Ashe takes tender care of it, and uses the new crystal growths in his machines.
