Biography

Jubei
Beastclan Liaison
Lawful Evil

PkKAmaj.png
One of very few dragons to not only have learned coatl, but nearly every different dialect of beastspeak, Jubei acts as an interpreter for the occasional beastclan delegations that visit the fortress. This is all well and good, but it turns out he isn't particuarly loyal to the clan. Instead, he secretly acts as the mastermind for a serthis sect near the Plague borders, keeping himself far enough away from the snakes that nobody would suspect a connection.

What does he do as head of a sertis sect? Start wars for fun and profit, of course! By spreading misinformation between dragon clans and beastclans alike, he can start minor conflicts and wars, and then instruct his serthis allies to wait for the moment to strike. Once their victims have weakened each other, the serthis slither in, sweeping away the stragglers and claiming all the loot for themselves. Jubei keeps the shiniest bits for himself, and the serthis keep all the wiggly bits that they use for whatever weird stuff it is that they get up to. Jubei doesn't really care, as long as he's constantly getting new trinkets for his hoard.

Jubei is well aware that his arrangement with the serthis is tenuous at best. The sect is likely only willing to keep him around for as long as he's useful to them. That's fine, he feels the same way about them. Still, he doesn't particularly feel like being poisoned by them once their agreement comes to an end. And after a good panic session that involved a lot of screaming about how he was going to die, Jubei figured out a plan. Trying to avoid taking the poison in the first place would be futile; there's just too many serthis to kill off, and some of them are even clever. Instead, he's working on building up an immunity to poison. Every poison. By taking very small doses, he's slowly becoming resistant to the effects. He's also turned himself some garish shades of green and pink, and very quickly become one of Brizo's biggest annoyances. There's only so many times you can treat the same dragon for 'food poisoning' before you get fed up with them.

But Jubei would be insulted if you thought he was only clever enough for one plan. No, he's got more. So many more. One of them is just to keep doing what he's good at. And that's languages, and making people hate each other. So why not get the beastclans to fight each other? There's some longnecks out in the eastern mountains that Jubei's been subverting, maybe he'll get them to tangle with the serthis. The fluffy things won't stand a chance against the snakes, but hey, it could be both a distraction and a good laugh.

As a side-effect of all the poison-taking (well, one of many), Jubei has found himself able to stomach a wider variety of food than the average nocturne. Or any dragon. Even Seagully's kelp tastes better than the poison. And if you spice it up with coralclimber venom, the kelp's actually pretty tasty!

His necklace contains a scrying stone, provided to him by the serthis. It allows him to communicate with them from far away, the image of the serthis holding its pair visible in the inky depths of the onyx. Depths that contain other things as well, things that no dragon should ever look at. And you will be looking at those things if you don't know how to safely use it, so if the necklace is ever stolen all Jubei has to do is look for the nearest dragon who's been reduced to a gibbering wreck. And then throw them in the ocean or something, because they won't be any use to him from that point onwards.

As the resident beastclan expert, Jubei is fully aware of Primacy's family history. Beyond the fact that it makes the skydancer unique in more ways than one, Jubei still isn't quite sure what to make of that information. Mostly because he hasn't quite figured out how he can exploit it yet.
