indentThis AutoSentry Version 2 (Beta) unit, generally known as Beta.v2, was once a simple automaton charged with protecting the Source from scavengers and scrutiny. However, after the engineers got a hold of Tesla's design for sacridite batteries, they were immediately put into one of the machines, a copper sentry modeled after a Wildclaw. The batteries were extremely efficient and hardly required upkeep, just as she said. However, a key rule was ignored: sacridite is a magical mineral associated with wishes, so it shouldn't be used in automated systems. If a job can be done by a dragon, it shouldn't be powered with sacridite; It wants its objective done, and with sacridite around, it will want that and more.

indentThe first signs were a marked increase in efficiency of this particular unit, which came to slow down upon a visit to a diplomat adorned in sandy roses, which began to tangle in its joints long after they'd left. They believed some of the plants had fallen onto the machine and tried to kill them, only to find they would always grow back. The unit's efficiency dropped when they were gone, implying the impossible- that it was alive, and that it really like those roses. They refused to hear him when he asked them to stop. After befriending Auggie, one of the nicer engineers at the Source, he was eventually found by a scavenger, Ayers, who saw sadness in his eyes, and heard the weariness in his voice as he asked 'Are you going to cut my flowers away now?' He stole him- no borrowing here- and brought him to the clan.
