Tempest could be considered a survivor of Remnant's apocalypse, if you ignore the fact that she's nothing but a shell of her former being - with all of what's left being mentally controlled by the fungus. She was supposed to be one of the many victims to perish when the space beast ate the planet, but before she could be thrown into the void of space, the glowing mushrooms held her with their roots, slowly claiming her body and reawakening her counsciousness under their control. The predatory fungus of Remnant were also normal plants once, until they were corrupted by darkness. Now, they want to take over this dying world by claiming any fallen organic matter they can find. And if it has a brain... Then it becomes their vessel.

Tempest is a sort of zombified vial for the glowing fungi; a materialization of the mushroom's hive mind, acting and speaking through their will. She's not suffering. She is a new being, something entirely different from when she was alive. Tempest can see in the dark and comunicate with all the mushrooms that now connect through almost all the planet using underground "roots". She seems to have lost her sense of danger, and wanders around aimlessly between the dark wastelands of the planet. Trying to have a conversation with her is pointless, as she only babbles nonsense about mushrooms all day and night, even when no one is around. When irritated, she will babble louder and more aggressively. She's prone to headaches and doesn't control her emotions or actions. The fungus guide Tempest's actions to protect them, even if against her own safety.

It is unknown if Tempest remembers her past self completely. She seems to have flashes of the past where she talks about things that happened before the world was destroyed, but she quickly dismisses them as the fungus take over her mind again.

If Tempest found other survivors or explorers in this world, she would probably attack them and try to claim their bodies for the fungus.
