As the Voice of the Gods Jin’nai is the head of the faith in Astropolis, a responsibility he inherited from his late master. He’s in charge of everything that goes on in the temple, from public masses to divination and even spirit channeling. He’s also been unable to hear the Goddess’s voice since his master’s death, a secret that eats away at him.

Why does he come here so often? Jin’nai wondered as his husband knelt beside him ━ to join him in prayer, perhaps. The meeting with the Sovereign and the pretender was still fresh in his mind, and this sudden arrival only served to send his nerves on edge.

His distress must have been noticeable, as Talok looked his way with genuine concern. “Is something wrong?”

If the Sovereign gave you the order, would you kill me?

“No. My apologies, let’s continue."
