Another young drake looking to challenge themselves in the Coliseum? Very well - make yourself comfortable and let's see what we can do to prepare your team.

The Coliseum uses a turn-based battle system, your Coli Team consisting of three dragons versus 1-to-4 mobs. The Coliseum itself consists of a series of venues of increasing difficulty, each with creatures or beastfolk that are unique to that venue. I actually have a list of Coliseum venues here, and it includes a breakdown of the mobs and loot available.

If you're willing to ask for help, I suggest stalking the In-Flight forums for your native Flight. There are bound to be resources - and possible trainers there who volunteer their time to answer questions and help you learn how to Coli. There might even being a system in place where you can borrow another player's dragons, to get a feel for different Coli Builds before you stat & stone your own team.

It's a long read, but the Coliseum Grinding/Exalting Guide is a step-by-step explanation of using the Coliseum for Dom & profit. It has a useful index, to help you with finding specific information.

Before you choose your Coli team take a gander at the elemental weaknesses and resistances, which you can find in the Coliseum Element Odds: it also breaks down each venue by the elements of the mobs.

Vocabulary:

▸ exalt: sending a dragon to one of the Deities

▸ Push: a Flight-scheduled mass-exalt for Dom or Profit

▸ drop: loot received from a slain mob

▸ stones: battle stones determine the moveset of a dragon, see builds

_Grinding_

____Most of your time in the Coliseum will be repetitive grinding. Get used to the idea! The payoff is worth it, though.

____For those wanting a quick reference for common builds, I suggest How To Train Your Dragon, by Duke. This guide has several different builds for individual dragons, suggestions for team lineups, and even a breakdown of which moves to use against which opponents, to end the battle quickly.

____If that's not enough for you, I also have a Comprehensive Coli Builds List which includes sources for all the listed builds. This is also useful as a quick reference, when Flightmates start throwing around terms like 'Culex' and 'Mire Flyer'.

_Festivals_

____Besides Dominance, the biggest reason people grind in the Coliseum is for the Elemental Holidays, as well as a handful of micro-holidays. These Sornieth-wide festivals have their own limited-time drops.

____When you have a limited time to get as much Festival Currency as possible, you want the Festival Coliseum Guide for the best locations to grind, as well as a breakdown of other festival exclusives. It updates every festival, so don't worry about having to find multiple references!
