Aspasia
The Groundskeeper
"QUOTE"

Aspasia ended up in Clan Mediasolis accidentally and on purpose. Her parents weren't bonded and she spent a lot of time bouncing between them. That distance was never the same; both clans were nomadic, traveling a range spanning from the Southern Icefields and all the way up the coast from the Ashfall Wastes, to the interior of the Shifting expanse and the rivermouth leading to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. While the constant change of scenery and new places to explore was fun as a hatchling, Aspasia found it harder to deal with as she got older. She couldn't keep much, just what she could carry with her. She wouldn't see her friends from one clan for half a year as she visited the other. She started wanting somewhere to stay and make cozy, something better than tents or wagons.

While her family stopped in the Sunbeam Ruins, she left. Everything she owned she could carry herself and, striking off, she began wandering. Several clans took her in for short periods, giving her shelter and supplies for her short travels and advice on where to go. Eventually one of them pointed her in the direction of Clan Mediasolis, knowing the matriarch's tendencies to take in young strays. Sure enough, Euryale vehemently adopted Aspasia, providing her a place to sleep as long as she found something to do with herself.

That part was... a little harder. She knew how to pack and catch food and navigate, but that was something most dragons here knew how to do. The tiny nocturne helped Natalica with some of the gathering, or Funayurei with the cleaning. But in her free time, she poked her nose everywhere, exploring every little inch of her new home. There was a secluded little marshy pond, visible from the main lair, that she quickly started weeding and tending. She asked Funa's mate to clear the pond, begged Kerria to teach her how to tend plants and consulted Lily on what pretty plants she liked would not disturb the ecosystem.

After a few months, the result was striking. Aspasia had made a neat pond filled with pretty small fish, feeders for local small wildlife, and a small garden. This... this made her proud. She loved taking care of the small fish, her favorite plants, listening to the chimes her friend Deneb gave her, even watching the small wild birds at her feeders. But seeing Euryale coming still made her a little nervous. The matriarch was kind to her and gave her plenty of freedom, but seemed so aggressive. Her little oasis didn't seem like the kind of thing she would be into. The mirror sat down at the pond, staring at the small fish that came up to beg for food.
"...This is a big undertaking. I'm impressed you did it yourself. What's the point though?" The small nocturne flushed, puffing up her chest in defense of her little project.
"It's for dragons to relax at! I-I like watching all the little birds, it feels good. And I checked with Lily to make sure nothing here's gonna hurt the local wildlife either. Just watch them for a bit." She scurried off but, too nervous to just leave her little garden in the hands of judgement, flew up to the lairroof to watch.

Euryale spent all afternoon there.

Aspasia now does garden design and planning, focusing on sustainable and local species, and gets her travelling in that way. She'll always have a home to come back to now though.
