Biography
The sun illuminates softly but warmly in the evening sky, casting long shadows as dragons go about the ruins they call home. Hatchlings play hide and seek among the crumbled stone, dragons return from gathering food and items, and Lightweaver’s protective figure glows gently from her tower in the distance.
A blue and teal hatchling with a jade capsule and faceted ice eyes, laying on a bed of leaves, peers up to the sky, thinking. Only two suns ago he was found by Brân, having wandered his way to these ruins after being banished from his home, and taken to the clan of crows.
The clan of crows was quiet but caring. It’s leader, Firestar, told him that his new home awaited. One of peace and softness, gentle kindness and sweet dreams, where he would always belong; the Lair of the Flamehearted.
Brân toted him around as her assistant for two days while his new clan prepared for his arrival. She taught him basic spells, and let him wear her cloak and carry her staff. The hatchlings of the large spiral family tried to teach him how to tie himself into knots. Ikeya and Izzy, Brân’s adoptive parents, showed him how to do sighted guide by holding onto the guide’s tail. For one of the first times in his life, he felt truly happy.
And now he has to leave. And although he’s sad to leave behind his new friends, he‘s also excited to join the clan of Firestar’s best friend. More friendships to make, more good memories to create, more happiness to find. He turns to the coatl lying next to him, Syzygy, with his new journal from Firestar in front of her and a quill in her mouth, acting as his scribe.
“I had a very good time learning magic with Brân. She even gave me a staff to take home! And I only got lost in these ruins once. I found this plushie while lost though, and Firestar said I could have it. I can’t wait to meet all my new clanmates, I’ve heard so many wonderful things about them. Firestar says their leader is a strong and kind soul with a big heart, and a love for coatls like me. I guess I’m a bit nervous; the last time I left home, I was lost and alone for a long time. But Firestar promised me where I’m going is the safest and nicest place on Sornieth, and I trust that, so I can’t wait for this new adventure. I’ll finally have a home that feels like home.”
He inhales and closes his eyes, in an attempt to calm his nerves, before standing up. Syzygy helps him put on his bag, before tucking in his journal and plushie. He uses his newfound sorcery skills to levitate his staff, and wrap the sash around his body.
Taking one last look at the ruins, he spreads his wings and grabs Syzygy’s tail, and the two start heading north, away from the past, away from the darkness, and towards the trees, towards his new home.
