Caryatid

The sea is endless and bountiful and abundant in forgotten riches. Cast your nets in the shallow water if you wish, but boy, beyond the continental shelf is an endless abyss full of drowned sailors, and not all that drowns is dead. They lie writhing in the dark like serpents bloated on saltwater, eyes unseeing and mouths ever-gaping. Their claws, dulled as they are from ages of sand and tide, still cut deep and cut slow.
Take heed of these words; the wisest sailors know not to stray where they do not know.
