Empire of Death: Order of Bone

Remnant grew up in a bustling trade-clan within the Water flight. Everyday there were dragons coming and going as they traded and sold goods back and forth. As a hatchling, he enjoyed going near the docks with his family on shopping trips because he could listen in on the adventures of their clan's visitors. The world sounded so big to the imperial despite the size he'd one day grow to. Remnant's three siblings would also stare wide-eyed at the idea of just how big Sornieth was—the maps they'd seen of it made it look so small in their minds.

As he grew older, the young imperial began learning the trade of becoming a successful merchant. His parents were both very good at their own shops and growing up around it his whole life had definitely allowed him to absorb the knowledge as he grew up. There was still a lot to learn however. Remnant found it wasn't so easy to start a business or even run one. Working with customers was tough at times and keeping goods in stock was hard as well. With his siblings by his side things went easier.

But the winds changed as their small clan hit a streak of bad luck. Many of the dragons began to leave while those who stayed behind had to scrape by if they weren't already established owners. His parents, no longer able to afford training them, ordered them away and told them to head to Wind where they might find similar jobs. Each received a parting gift to show no ill-will towards any of them; Remnant's gift was a Nekomata.

Fate would continue to be cruel. Unused to the strong winds within Water's neighboring flight, the siblings struggled to fight the strong air currents and gale-force winds along the coast. After a storm hit, Remnant would find himself alone. His siblings separated or worse, dead, meant all he had left was his familiar. Not wanting to risk his life to the winds any longer, the imperial changed course for the next closest flight: Plague.

It was there his luck began picking up. He joined the Order of Bone, which worked as a sub-clan within an empire. With hard work, Remnant was able to work as a well-off merchant. While most of his focus was in the Order of Bone, he also visited the other sub-clans to trade and sell his wares to dragons there as well. It was on one of these return trips that he met Ferocity.

The skydancer was beautiful and after courting each other for a while to get to know each other, they became mates. Remnant had come to understand her somber feelings and yet was also able to show Ferocity some positivity. The imperial had found her subspecies unnerving at first but learning more about it and raising his own hatchlings that carried such a mark of their origin left him with little concern. After losing so much of his own family prior, the imperial understood death but more than that, he understood that life went on. With Ferocity at his side and hatchlings they got to see grow up and leave on their own lives, Remnant decided he couldn't be happier with how things turned out.
