"There's poetry in this sort of thing, you know --
or perhaps you don't know, but it's all the same."

One of the professors who has been teaching at Home the longest, Zellig was hired early into the orphanage's operation to provide individualized instruction to Primal residents. Known for his passionate, driven personality and his sharp wit, he's famous around Home as an incredible magician. With a competitive streak a mile wide, he does all he can to ensure Vanaheimr Hall is the best Hall at Home, always pushing his students to reach success.

- Biography
A bright Light-born magician, Zellig was an orphan from a young age, abandoned - as are many young Primals - due to his eyes. Also blind from a young age, Zellig's blindness is profound enough that he has difficulty even distinguishing light or dark in his immediate surroundings. Though a less-than-ideal situation in which to grow up, Zellig not only survived but thrived, with his magical skill quickly outpacing his teachers and emerging from a young age as an amazingly skilled magician. Despite having been teaching at Home longer than many of his colleagues, Zellig is still among the youngest of Home's professors. He is passionate about ensuring Home's young Primals receive the education and the loving home he had never had, and he has very high expectations for every young dragon in his Hall.

- Life at Home
A capable and efficient dragon, Zellig is one of the few dragons who very rarely takes on students outside of his own Hall. While most other Heads of Hall do teach their own students much more frequently than those from other Halls, Zellig's magical classes are so difficult and specialized that him accepting a non-Primal student is a very rare occurrence, though he has been known to accept Jǫtunheimr Hall students and Dark Sclera students from any Hall. The resulting lack of familiarity students from other Halls have with him means that many of Home's residents find him intimidating and even scary. It's true that, when seen from afar, Zellig can absolutely seem intimidating. However, his students in Vanaheimr Hall universally adore him. Zellig teaches exclusively magic courses, believing that his Primal students require and deserve a very individualized education from day one. When he's not teaching, he can be found in Home's library, and he can very occasionally be coaxed into teaching an elective course on creative writing or fashion design (though this is such a rare occurrence these courses always fill up nearly instantly as students from other Halls clamber to catch a glimpse of the fabled Vanaheimr Head of Hall).

- Relationships
Zellig's high expectations are well-known among the students in Vanaheimr Hall, and though he can seem scary to new arrivals, residents in his Hall universally try to avoid disappointing him (at first out of fear and then out of loyalty). A magnanimous dragon whose larger-than-life bearing and skill make him seem nearly invincible, Zellig is nonetheless a humble dragon who always owns up to mistakes, earning him the respect of his students and colleagues. He goes to pains to get to know every one of his students well, caring about them personally as well as academically, and every student in Vanaheimr Hall knows he would do anything for them. Zellig is also a close friend with most of his colleagues, especially the other magical masters on the faculty board, who he often consults for advice on the education of Primals of other elements. Though students from the other Halls rarely get to take a class with Zellig or even see him around Home, those who have quickly grow to like him just as readily as students in his own Hall. For students from other Halls, passing Zellig's infamously difficult classes leads to instant bragging rights.

- Personality
The most pervasive myth about Zellig at Home is that he's a frightening dragon. It's true that, when seen from afar, Zellig can absolutely seem intimidating. This is mostly due to the fact that, whenever students from other Halls have seen Zellig around Home, he's been hard at work. A dedicated and no-nonsense dragon, Zellig is a master at doing what needs done, and this means he can often seem humorless and overly-focused when he's on the job. His students, who have seen a more casual side to him, know better. Zellig is simply an absolute sweetheart, and though it's true he's driven and passionate and a bit on the formal side, he's not above joking around with his students. He has a tradition of always making his special sweet pancakes for his students the morning of every exam, he gives the best hatchday presents, and he goes out of his way to provide tutoring if a student is struggling. Students from other Halls are often surprised to see how kind and gentle Zellig is when he's not on the clock. Devoted to his students and to Home, Zellig is among Home's most dedicated professors.
