Biography
NOBODY
Stoic, hollow, regretful
One thing becomes immediately clear upon meeting Bradley: he is a broken individual. One of his arms is mangled into uselessness and his head is riddled with scars, but it's his spirits that have suffered most. He's endured the worst fate a Guardian can imagine: his own charge rejected him, stripping him of all his dignity and purpose.
Bradley was born into a dysfunctional clan that left him to raise his own baby sister. She died young despite his attempts, leaving him lonely and full of guilt. In the aftermath, he cultivated a strong shell to protect himself, but his core stayed weak and vulnerable. He guarded it zealously, refusing to let anyone touch it until he was well into adulthood.
As Bradley was roaming his homeland, he stumbled upon an abandoned dragon egg, and he reasoned that this was his second chance. He brought it back to his lair and incubated it, and to his delight, a Mirror dragon hatched. The two immediately formed a close bond, and he wholeheartedly adopted her as his charge.
Though he went into parenthood with good intentions, he was woefully ill-equipped to satisfy her needs. Fearing a repeat of his sister's fate, he confined his adoptive daughter to a limited, isolated lifestyle. This kept the mirror safe, but over time, she began to resent his methods. Even Bradley's old friends from his birth clan began to worry about his judgment.
After many years of arguing, crying, and disobedience, she wriggled out of his control and ran away from home. Bradley pursued her, eager to rescue his daughter, but she rebuffed every attempt at bringing her back into his life. In his desperation, he harmed dozens of other dragons, burnt all of his bridges, spent all his resources, and suffered grievous bodily injuries. He never stopped trying, despite the terrible consequences. In the end, she joined a powerful clan that could keep him away for good. When the dust settled, he was left with nothing.
A washed-up Bradley eventually drifted into the ranks of the Empyreal. He does everything asked of him without comment or complaint. In his daughter's absence, he holds a keepsake as a sort of surrogate charge; a dried flower that she picked, a memento from happier days.
His new clanmates have tried to get him to open up or smile, but it's hard to get a reaction from him. Bradley has immense difficulty with accepting goodwill from others. His failures have shaken him to his foundations, and it's unclear whether he'll ever forgive himself. Hopefully, being immersed in a kinder, supportive environment will allow him to find the closure he desperately needs.
