venom is the usual ruler of the clan but is currently under persephone's spell and has become her lap dog. woops. stop being so pretty maybe. idiot

venom has a mutated gembond that looks like crystal and is harmful to his health. he's still young but in the future, his death will probably involve the crystals growing in his organs! fun time. he also has a very potent venom drool that acts like a kind of acid to flesh, smells weirdly sweet and attracts bugs. think of how fly catchers plants act, basically

he's a goofy, flirty, kind soul. his years as clan leader have matured him a little bit so he's more leader-like, but you'd find it hard to NOT like him, as he has charisma for days

venom was found as a hatchling in an arcane pool by nacht, who adopted him as her own realizing he was alone and sprouting his strange crystals. at the time the clan was small and resided on the edge of the molten scar, ruled by an old and cruel dark ridgeback that nacht was distantly related to. as he grew and trained, he became the clan's greatest warrior and beyond that, a bit of an upstart. he wasn't happy with the way things were ran. upon reaching adulthood and becoming one of the bigger imperials many had seen (seriously look at his size), he overtook the throne and moved them from the holes they had scraped for themselves in the dirt to better pastures off in the windswept plateau. many of the clan was lost during this journey- either due to a dislike for the new leadership or because they literally got blown away by the vortex. this is canon. I wrote canonically that my lair cleanout was the result of dragons being blown away by a tornado like cows

being as young and inexperienced as he was, it was by pure fortune hotaru stumbled upon the band and helped them find a safer place to stay. she brought them to the reedcleft ascent, where they made a sprawling home in caves amongst the tower-like cliffs, with bridges and perilous staircases made out of the cliffside themselves to navigate by. this would become home for a long time, and venom ruled comfortably, bringing a solid few years of peace as the clan grew and prospered. he took hotaru as a mate, kept nacht as a dear friend by his side, and overall it was a Good Time (tm)

however the author got bored of wind and decided to switch to shadow, so we had to come up with why that happened because lore

persephone visited the clan one day and promptly ruined the peace. she got close to venom, luring him with her charm and beauty, then promptly enchanted him. he uprooted himself and followed her to shadow, where of course most of the clan followed in mass panic and confusion- until abruptly, they were just No Longer Worried as persephone's spell spread. those with a stronger will stayed behind with nacht, but at current, venom is usually seen at persephone's side with a glazed look and all but wearing a collar and leash. he's nothing more than a glorified pet and body guard now, unable to break free from her grasp. he'll probably be fine. maybe. idk I like being mean to my ocs god speed venom
