Unfortunately, soon after Darron was born, leadership shifted in the clan. Many dragons had been involved with dragons of the Water flight at the time, and demanded that the leaders move the lair to the Fishpine Reef. Darron's father, Kakir, stood his ground against the lair, but he was outnumbered. Soon enough, the lair made the journey toward the Fishpine Reef. At the time, Darron wasn't sure what to do or what to think, but no matter how much he panicked, his mother Jasmine was there to calm him down. Once they had made it to their destination, a new dragon took the place of the role of leader, turning Darron from a hopeful heir to a despondent outcast. While the Fishpine Reef was certainly exciting, after a while Darron became bored with the scenery. And on the way there from his old home, he had been able to see just how big the world really was. There were so many sights to see and so many dragons to meet. When he brought this up with his mother, Jasmine chuckled warmly. "If you wish to leave, why don't you?" she had asked him. Darron cocked his head to the side. "You mean, I can leave whenever I want?" he asked in return. "Why not? Here, I will tell you this. My parents live in a lair far into Lightning flight territory, and I have a letter to give to them. Would you deliver it for me?" At this, Jasmine pulled out a small scroll bound tightly with twine. Darron emphatically agreed to his mother's request. After promising to be back by the week's end, Darron took off towards Lightning flight territory, clutching the scroll in his claws. In that time of travel, he had never felt so free. Without the burden of other dragons telling him where to go, Darron was free to investigate any area he chose, so long as he made it to his destination. After several days of travel, Darron made it to his grandparent's lair, just on the edge of The Lightning Farm. After a few hours of introductions and stories from his grandparents, Carson and Andra, Darron began his flight home, once again taking his time in getting there. However, as he got home, he began to regret his delay. The lair seemed eerily quiet, with no sign of his parents. Many dragons he had once called friends refused to tell him what had happened. It was only in talking directly to the clan leader did he discover the attack on his home. Darron's parents had died. And not only that, but dying on Water flight territory meant they had gone to serve the Tidelord, a god that they had never served in life. In grief and panic, Darron took off once again, flying in any direction so long as it was away from there. He flew in circles for days, grieving over his lost parents. It was a few weeks later that he noticed he was in Lightning flight territory, rather close to his grandparent's lair, and he solemnly made his way there. It's been years since the attack, and Darron has mostly healed from his ordeal. He now calls the Lightning Flight his home, serving as a clan-to-clan messenger for the leaders of his grandparent's clan. Through Darron's tragedy, an opportunity was made. An opportunity for a new home. |
