Biography
The Learned
Having been found by Aos herself, Zahhak has been geared up for greatness since the day he was born. Spending most of his days with his snout stuffed into a book rather than going out to play, learning new languages from Carnagi, and playing with admittedly dangerous magic were all fair game. He was, and still is, a natural at learning new concepts.
That didn't stop what came at the turning point of his adolescence, however.
Playing with magic was something everyone knew to be dangerous, especially if misused. Zahhak had been warned time and time again that it was not to be used as a toy, but as a tool. But as all children who play with tools learn, you will eventually drop the hammer on your foot.
In a split second, Zahhak's wings caught fire. An impossibility for a nature dragon, or so most of the dragons in the clan had thought. They rushed to find Mistwalker, who had just begun to master the element of water. The fire on Zahhak's wings knew no mercy. Even as Mistwalker doused the flames, still it burned. Like parchment set alight. It took hours of screaming for the flames to finally die out. When they dissipated, Zahhak's wings had changed forever.
Even now he cannot fly. There are too many holes, too many unpatched areas that only serve to cause pain.
But Zahhak was never one to let things stop him. He continued to serve his ever present hunger for knowledge, searching for a cure to fix his wings. Searching for an answer to how Mistwalker mastered water as a light dragon. Trying to understand how Muuimir sacrificed his sight, yet saw more than anyone ever could hope to.
Attempting and giving up on finding a reason as to why his son became... that way.
His son, who he had adored with all his heart for so long, who grew up to abandon him entirely. His son, who grew up to do nothing with himself. His son, who only ever idolized his mother.
His son, the one subject he fails to understand.

"What is it I'm doing wrong...? There is no subject I cannot understand. None. So then why is it so hard to understand him?"
