An eccentric and quirky man, the Field Marshal of the Western Heavenly Army is considered to be an 'idiot genius' by some. His ranking in the Celestial Army was gained through his battle prowess and brilliant tactical mind; given the rank by the Dragon King of the Western Sea himself, despite his strangeness, it was a rank well earned. At times seeming vague and 'not all there', that seraphic smile hides steel as sharp and lethal as Damascus.

Saiyuki is a manga/anime series whose plot is based loosely on the popular Chinese novels Journey To the West. The series name is written to sound like 'Saiyuki', which translates to 'Journey to the West', but actually reads as 'Journey to the Extreme'. Taking place in a world where humans and youkai (demons) once lived in harmony, there's trouble in paradise as the youkai suddenly start attacking and killing their human neighbors. The series follows the journey of Priest Genjyo Sanzo and his three youkai companions, who are bade to go west to put a stop to the experiments that are causing the youkai to go berserk. Combining elements of action, adventure, and fantasy, the series is well loved in the East, but largely obscure to Western audiences.
