Somehow, Pio got it into their head that they were a guardian like Eliana, just born in the wrong shape. They insist that they need to find their charge and have a habit of asking every new thing they encounter, dragon or not, if they're their charge. This makes them seem quite airheaded to most, but Astril was always supportive, though she clearly didn't understand Pio's strange desire. Eliana considers Pio a waste of a dragon. Pio left their birth clan on the search for their charge like any good guardian would. Astril told them to write back. Eliana didn't say goodbye. If Pio should have been upset about that, it didn't occur to them. They were already thinking about the open road ahead.
