Skinless It is rumored that long ago, Skinless stripped the flesh from their lean bodies of their own volition, as a message to the rest of dragonkind that they were invulnerable to pain, and could not be frightened by threat of violence. It has since become an inherent trait. Despite the horrifying appearance of the the Skinless, rest assured that they are not in discomfort. The exposed nerve endings of muscular and connective tissues are far less sensitive. Their surface vessels release rivulets of fresh blood, which help to cleanse dirt and bacteria amassed in a typical day. This emission is constant and accumulates as a tacky, clotted substance which covers them like a protective layer. They will avoid water at all costs, as washing away the bloody coating will leave them vulnerable to native infections. Singing Blood Neither of Ekeiki's parents subscribes deeply to these legends. The nature of their origins being of very little importance to them in the day-to-day. Indeed his father, in particular, was blessed with his current existence by his queen and his devotion to her. These skinless dragons are the highest ranking children of the clan. That doesn't necessarily make their lives easier, as they are usually trained hard. Grabal takes great pride in his children, their number, and their strength. |

Echo was raised alongside two larger and more powerful sisters, each guardians. The two of them were terrors with exceptional martial prowess. Echo however, was the most disciplined of the three. What he lacked in power he made up for with cunning and diligence, taking after his mother. She never showed any affection, or let it be known to him that she favored him, but of the three he most often pleased her, in so far as it was possible to please her. As he grew he manifested a number of useful elemental abilities. His feathers and fur are an extreme irritant, as they are bristly and sharp, and he can, with vigorous motion, send clouds of the stinging bristles floating around him. They are not enough to pierce the scales of most other dragons, but can get get into the eyes and nose of his enemies, and carry with them all manner of terrible native plague pathogens. Beasts suffer worse, for many do not have a dragon's thick hide. |
