"Feel the wrath of the goddess of lightning!"

Rumors of Ishtar proceeded her arrival at Clan Greased Lightning. She was a fierce and formidable opponent. None matched her skill in lightning magic. If you ended up on her bad side, if you made one wrong move, you'd be electrocuted before you could even think another word.

Not everyone took part in spreading these rumors, of course. Sety, Tinny, Julius, all stayed quiet on the subject, shifting uncomfortably on the sides whenever it was brought up. Sometimes people asked why. None of them ever quite gave a straight answer. Tinny, it could be understood; her brother, Arthur, could tell you that she'd been kidnapped by Ishtar's family years ago, and had to grow up around her; of course hearing about her cousin could be frightening or upsetting. Julius, it was slowly discovered, had grown up around Ishtar, they had been - friends - and no one knew for Sety, except that sometimes, when she was mentioned, his paw would try and find a space just behind one of his wings (an old wound? Had Ishtar left it in some fight? Sety was certainly skilled enough at magic to have survived an attack...).

When Ishtar did arrive, bedraggled and gravely wounded, you can imagine that it threw the whole clan into disarray. Arthur, who'd formally spoken against her, ended up being the one to drag her back for treatment. Julius darted out of the way, with a very hurried "she can't see me, it'll just upset her!" And Sety and Tinny were the first two to rush to meet her.

Slowly, the truth came out. Ishtar, the majorblood, had been abused just as badly as Tinny, if in different ways; her mother was the center of it all, always pushing her to marry, and marry the right sort, and be a certain way, and-

Julius had been her childhood friend, and a sweet boy. Had been. Those in Greased Lightning who knew what had happened to Julius shifted on their feet, exchanging glances.

There was more, too, much more; Arthur's focus for vengeance quests shifted sharply, and Julius, usually so kind now, muttered darkly about people he truly should have killed when he had the chance.

Having been healed, and slowly acclimating to the safety of Clan Greased Lightning, Ishtar has begun to open up more. Her and Julius have banded together once more, into a duo no one is... quite sure how to classify. They can be a bit of a menace, Julius usually as the ringleader - but he's not whatever he was before, and his antics are much more tolerable than... whatever they were before.
