Ever since the surge of elemental magic, the nests in Shade's clan have been affected. One of her own children was born with quite unusual eyes, being a pale purple. He was named Gladiolus, nicknamed Gladio. Believing that he was special, Shade and Dusk decided to keep him in the clan. Unlike Cinthia, whose eyes were altered with a magical vial, Gladiolus was born with these eyes. Everyone believes him to be 'special' in some way, but sometimes, he can't handle all the attention and retreats deeper in the Tangled Wood. Unfortunately, he is quite easy to track thanks to the little wisps of green light that follow him wherever he goes. He tries his best to hide his eyes under his hat, but sometimes this method of secrecy proves ineffective.

When he's not running off, Gladio is a skilled bowman. He has a close relationship with his kelpie, and often hangs out near the swampy rivers of the Shadowbinder's territory. He took up the bow in order to protect himself from hidden dangers after dancing with death one night after he ran away.
