It is unknown how Shilo remains unscathed during her travels through the Scarred Wasteland whilst being a dragon hailing from the domain of the Icewarden, as she does not contract the Wyrmwound plague, or any other sicknesses commonly caught in the wasteland. Some say she's blessed to be completely immune, others say she's a skilled cleric, yet no one knows for certain how she stays healthy in such an unforgiving climate. Shilo left the Southern Icefield after learning of the plague flight heavily worships the never-ending cycle of life and death. Being a descendant of The Gatekeeper, death is of great importance to her bloodline, and to join a flight made up of those who treated it with respect only seemed natural to her. To maintain a good reputation in such a barbaric society, Shilo works as a medium for those who want to speak to those The Gatekeeper sealed away. No matter how far descended you are from The Gatekeeper, a connection to the dead will always run throughout her bloodline. Shilo takes pay not in treasure or gems, since they hardly have much worth in the wasteland, and instead prefers things of immediate use such as fresh food and clean water, which are considered luxuries in such a barren place. The only exceptions to this are certain familiars such as seekers, or ancestral incense. She refuses to speak to the spirits of imperials who had become emperors in death, as for when their bodies rise from the dead, fragments of their soul are torn from the realm of The Gatekeeper with them. She knows she cannot get clear messages from their spirits, as for they are broken and fragmented, yet she also fears them. Not because of the monstrous form they once took, yet because they are the only dragons capable of escaping death, albeit partially. They are something she nor The Gatekeeper herself understand, and that alone is why she believes it is best to stay away from them. Shilo's lair is a relatively small cavern in the side of a cliff face, littered with feathers and jewelry made from the eyes of seekers. Her dreams are of great importance to her, and since it is believed seeker eyes provide clearer, more vivid dreams, she gathers as many as she can. Shilo wants nothing more than to communicate with The Gatekeeper, specifically to receive her guidance and advice. Shilo may be loyal to the Plaguebringer, yet nothing is of higher importance to her than The Gatekeeper and her work. |
