Freyja averted his eyes from his mother, who stared at him with a cold and expressionless gaze. His eyes were filled with unspoken words and brimming emotion, for here in the chamber of the faerie queen, Fae-Hollows youngest and most frail royalty was asking permission to leave the sacred grounds. The gentle breathing of Ostara broke the silence for several moments, the sound deafening to the wildclaw.

When Ostara finally spoke, the word shot through Freyja like an arcane missile.

"No." The word was short, clean, but delivered with an icy finality. Freyja bowed his head, tears already landing on the marbled floors, and left his mother, mind decided.

The wildclaw would leave that very night.

The Young Prince Is Discovered

Trees that spiraled towards the heavens and magic that twisted and pulled in all directions made up the Starwood Strand clan of Fae-Hollow, birthplace and home of Freyja the Young Arcane Prince. The skies were black and sharp and unnaturally cold, and the citizens of fae felt the control of shade magic stronger than ever. Freyja wheezed as he darted between trees, navigating expertly through the woods of his home, his powerful legs kicking up glowing flowers that resembled twinkling stars.

The wildclaw was tinged pink from the cold, tears frozen to the light fur that lined his face. The Seelie Court had provided the perfect opportunity for his escape, their faces grim and worried for their leader's future. But they were understanding, and offered him warmth and blessings before his departure. Now that he was clearing the border of his territory, he felt a great pain of loss for his people.

So caught up in his thoughts was he, that the prince failed to sense the presence of another until it was too late; the large shape landed in his path, forcing his powerful talons to dig into the earth, his wings sprung outwards to balance his abrupt stop. It didn't take him long to recognize the dragon that now stood before him. His mother Artemis stood tall, her eyes and frill downcast in sadness for her son. She reached out, and Freyja didn't hesitate to hug his beloved mother tightly, sobbing into her shoulder. Freyja was so much taller than his mother, but she didn't mind, holding onto him until he could speak.

"I'm so sorry mama." He sniffled, his eyes red and raw. "Please understand."

Artemis' tearful smile and nod of her head was all Freyja needed. He bowed, and took off running faster than ever before he could change his mind.

That night, the air echoed with her mournful cries.

The fragile arcane prince, learned in basic magic, Adopted son to Ostara and Artemis. Currently traveling the Crystalspine Reaches to find a cure for fae magic, for athough part of the Seelie court, Freyja is attempting to undo the damage done by the fairies and the crystals that surround Fae Hollow.
