Although he lives near the Starlites Clan, Cricky isn't truly a member after being cast out. Most are aware of his presence, but he keeps himself concealed and quiet, careful not to get caught by certain Clan members and happily welcoming others to his abode. Cricky's greatest passion lies in magic, and he's especially interested in invention. Having spent the majority of his life studying books and theories created by other great mages and wizards, he wants to one day achieve their level of skill and be credited for his own contribution to the arts. He has broad knowledge on all kinds of magic, but his focus tends to narrow on the darker sides, the contaminating and life-sucking ways of shadowy magic, the play of the souls and immortality, the stealing of life to fuel another... in other words, the "forbidden" magic is his speciality. Though usually locked away by himself, practising and inventing, he does like to entertain the occasional guest - and the less they know about him, the better. Cricky loves watching the wonder on stranger's faces as they take in the sight of his dark and vine-covered hut, as if it were being enveloped by the surrounding forest. He loves to see their eyes widen in fear and excitement once he lets them inside and they see the countless books, jars, ingredients and notes, and of course, his cauldron. Teasingly, he might even offer them a sip of something from its depths - warn them with a wink that it might not be wise to trust him. But in truth, he'd never let an innocent stranger be harmed by his arts, and most of his playful taunts are just that. And if a guest matches his wit and shows some spirit of their own, he'll be all the more interested and might even allow them to become his friend, over time.
